A Red, Red Rose

Red Rose

O my luve’s like a red, red rose,
That’s newly sprung in June;
O my luve’s like the melodie
That’s sweetly play’d in tune.

As fair thou art, my bonnie lass,
So deep in luve am I;
And I will love thee still, my Dear
Till a’ the seas gang dry.

Till a’ the seas gang dry, my Dear,
And the rocks melt wi’ the sun;
I will love thee still, my Dear
While the sands o’ life shall run.

And fare thee weel, my only Luve!
And fare thee weel, a while!
And I will come again, my Luve,
Tho’ it were ten thousand mile!

Words on Feeling Safe

Oh the comfort of feeling safe
with a person;
having neither to weigh thoughts,
nor measure words,
but to pour them all out
just as chaff and grain together,
knowing that a faithful hand
will take and sift them,
keeping what is worth keeping
and with a breath of kindness,
blow the rest away.

   Oh the comfort of feeling safe with a person;
having neither to weigh thoughts,
nor measure words,
but to pour them all out
just as chaff and grain together,
knowing that a faithful hand
will take and sift them,
keeping what is worth keeping
and with a breath of kindness,
blow the rest away.

The Art of a Good Marriage

 happy marriage

The little things are the big things.

It is never being too old to hold hands.
It is remembering to say “I love you” at least once a day.
It is never going to sleep angry.

It is never taking the other for granted;
the courtship should not end with the honeymoon,
it should continue through all the years.

It is having a mutual sense of values and common objectives.
It is standing together facing the world.
It is forming a circle of love that gathers in the whole family.

It is doing things for each other,
not in the attitude of duty or sacrifice,
but in the spirit of joy.

It is speaking words of appreciation
And demonstrating gratitude in thoughtful ways.
It is not expecting the husband to wear a halo
Or the wife to have wings of an angel.

It is not looking for perfection in each other.
It is cultivating flexibility, patience,
Understanding and a sense of humor.

It is having the capacity to forgive and forget.
It is giving each other an atmosphere in which each can grow.
It is finding room for the things of the spirit.
It is a common search for the good and the beautiful.
It is establishing a relationship in which the independence is equal,
Dependence is mutual and the obligation is reciprocal.
It is not only marrying the right partner,
it is being the right partner.

 When You Look At Me

By Sue L. Martin – For JD

The look of love

When you look at me my heart melts
Your eyes smile and twinkle with love
With just a look you say I love you
With just a smile you say you’ll always be there
My eyes mist with tears, my heart aches with love
I reach for you, you reach for me
With a look alone our hearts entwine
Forever in love, yours and mine

  River of Love

By Sue L. Martin – For JD

Wedding, Couple, Newlyweds

Our river of love runs strong and deep
After the rainstorm it overflows
Spilling over the banks
Endless waters of love rush downstream
Picking up speed and strength
No longer a gentle stream
But roaring rapids
Gaining momentum
Tossing us close to the rocky shore
Culminating in cascading waterfalls
That terminate in a gentle stream
Pulling us gently toward the grassy edge

Beautiful Eyes
By J D Canfield—for Sue

A woman with beautiful eyes

beautiful eyes of oceans and skies glorious crown of golden honey wheat
alabaster’s gentle caress yet I crackle like lightning
and tremble like thunder

 and your arms around me while I rest;
to smell your skin, feel your honey wheat hair against the back of my neck;
hear your sunny voice telling me of your endless boundless timeless love.

I want to feel your body pressed against my back
and your arms around me while I rest;
to smell your skin, feel your honey wheat hair against the back of my neck;
hear your sunny voice telling me of your endless boundless timeless love.

I know we can’t spend every minute of every day together,
but I still dream about never being away from you for an instant.
Can you imagine living on our own tropical island,
bathing in a fresh water stream,
sleeping under the stars,
sharing a lunch of fish and fruit and fresh clear water,
and then napping for a while;
what a life it would be,
just the two of us in love forever.

You will always have my love, forever, always, eternally.
I’ve fallen into the beautiful blue ocean of your eyes,
and I’m drowning in a sea of precious love.
Never let me escape;
keep me forever, dove;
keep me forever . . .

You make me smile, inside and out, dearest.
The more you love me, the more I want to do for you.
How can anyone go thru life
without this endless cycle of love and giving and caring?
I know I couldn’t; not for a minute.
Love me forever, my darling;
love me forever, as I’ll love you.

I ache to hold you; to have you hold me;
to lay together in the sun and share expressions of affection.
I miss y11our smile,
the glow of your glorious hair,
the touch of your delicate skin,
the strength of your hands,
the comfort of your care.

You’ve stolen my heart, dearest, and I never want it back
exploding spinning flying thrilling racing leaping pounding heart
I cannot contain me; my heart is too full.

A Journey for Two

Just married starting life's journey

The little things are the big things.
Coming together on this special day
A journey you will be taking on life’s highway.
Two hearts become one when you pledge your love
In front of family, friends, and God above.

Loving one another comes from the heart
And this is where your marriage really starts.
In many ways your lives will change
and nothing will seem to be the same.

Out of your love children will come
And you will find more joy and then some.
Many years will come and go
And your love for each other will grow and grow.

After your children leave the nest
Raising them you know you did your best.
The day has come that you want to go home
And the day came when God took you to his heavenly home.
