Where's the beef? by Mrs. Michael Lombardi

"When we first got married, we bought our bedroom set, the kitchen table, and an aquarium. As the years went by we replaced the old, green, hand-me-down sofa, the boxes we were using as a coffee table and we even bought a T.V. But, I never could get the food thing right!

I remember sitting at our new kitchen table working on a budget. I really thought I had it right. I made a list of our bills, anticipated clothing expenses, entertainment, repair money for our car, and I even filled up the address book that I proudly put next to our new telephone.

I was going to be a really organized homemaker. Well, when my husband returned home from his first day back at work after our honeymoon, I showed him what I had worked on all day. He opened the spiral notebook, began to read through the budget entries I had made, in such an organized fashion, calculated to the penny, and he said..."what about the food?"

"What?" I said in disbelief! "You mean I forgot to figure in money for food?"
