A Disc Jockey - DJ, is a person who plays musical recordings for a living. A wedding Disc Jockey - DJ is responsible for playing the musical selections given him/her by the bride and groom. The selection is meant to please both the newlyweds and their guests and provide with a memorable celebration. Should we choose a DJ or a band? The biggest advantage a wedding DJ has over a band is cost. However since a DJ plays the songs you choose by the artists you like best, you do not need to worry about the ability of the band or its singer(s) and their familiarity with the chosen selection. However, whether you choose a DJ or a band be very careful before you sign a contract. Not everyone is a true professional and a bad wedding dj or band can ruin your wedding. Before you meet with a prospective DJ or band, you need prepare: " Your wedding schedule, " Information about each member of the wedding party, " Information about family members, " Special occasions you want to be mentioned such as birthdays and anniversaries, " Your musical selection, " Special or dedicated musical pieces, Therefore: " Interview at least 3 in depth. " Collect their business card and brochures. " Check for references and for professional associations they belong to. " Check whether they use professional equipment and have backup equipment and personnel in case they are needed. " Check if they are familiar with your venue and wedding etiquette, " Check if they will wear appropriate attire to complement your wedding theme or style. " Make sure that they have a good music selection that includes all the musical pieces you provide. " Are they energetic enough to keep your guests entertained? " Will they provide the atmosphere and performance you expect for a perfect wedding enjoyment? " Do you feel comfortable working with them? The Contract Most importantly they must provide you with a signed and dated contract that leaves no room for bait and switch. The contract must specify every item you discussed, including arrival time, price, overtime, and other unexpected or hidden fees.
