Meet the artisan Diane MorganAbout the Artist Diane Morgan worked for twenty two years as a business manager for a major defense company until June 1998. At that time the company offered an early retirement package with two days to make her decision. This came at a time when mid life crisis was setting in and Diane’s heart and soul was searching for inner peace and knew that the corporate world was not her true calling. After an excruciating weekend of debate, she and her husband Wayne decided to give Diane the chance to start her own craft related business. At the time, she thought she would continue with her line of handmade baby items but the road has branched out since then. Diane’s true love has always been crafts and the arts. She is an accomplished seamstress with thirty six years experience. She has since advanced to high end sewing machines with embroidery capabilities. Along with hand knitting, machine knitting, crocheting, country crafts and wood projects, she has now found her “niche” in painting. In searching for a new surface to paint on, she tried a few mailboxes in her local craft shop and history was made.... Her work is now sought after locally and over the past year her business has successfully expanded to the internet. She has developed a large network of small businesses and entrepreneurs and has always been willing to help others. Diane is a member of the National Society of Decorative Painters, The White Mountain Decorative Painters Guild, The Tewksbury, MA Community of Artists and The Chelmsford, MA Artist’s Guild. Her love of painting shows in her quality and her attention to detail. Her favorite medium is acrylics though she still enjoys watercolor painting, pen and ink drawings and the amazing results of colored pencil. She’s dabbling with pastels but is always drawn back to acrylics. She’s now expanding into the medium of traditional oil painting and taking lessons with a certified decorative artist. Diane loves to share her enthusiasm for painting and is a painting instructor at Michael’s Arts and Crafts store in Nashua, NH and also has classes at her home studio. She particularly likes to teach beginners and hear them say, “I can’t believe I did that!.” Her rule of thumb with painting is that there is no right or wrong way. She teaches the techniques and with practice, each person then develops their own style. Diane is working full time out of her home studio in Tewksbury, MA which she shares with her husband, Wayne and step daughter Kristin. Her other love is animals and they are all her painting helpers. They include one Sheltie puppy (Jessie) , 4 cats (Rowdy, Mushy, Beans and Lucky) , 3 talking parrots (Angel, Rebel and Ivy), 3 parakeets (Fred, Lemon and Sophie) , 1 guinea pig (Abbie) and two new baby bunnies (Snuggles and Rikki.) She has also been banned from frequenting any more pet shops! Diane is now 45 years old, content with herself, happily married , loved by many animals and very lucky to be able to do what she truly loves to do.
