Make the Bride and Groom Feel Special
Contributed by Nily Glaser of Candles By Nily
You know your bride and groom best and can design your own great way to make them feel special.
following are some "Universal" tips and ideas. Most are simple and just plain thoughtful.
You do not need to incur extra expenses but you do need to put on your thinking cap.
- When you prepare to return the reply card, think of a little message saying something like be delighted to, gladly, certainly, on the line between will and attend.
("will ______attend").
Or add something like I/we am/are looking forward to sharing in your day / happiness / beginning of your life together etc...
under the reply line. The bride and groom will appreciate it and probably keep your reply card as a memento.
- Do the same in the guest book. Here too, don't just simply sign your name but offer specific wishes, a compliment or your best piece of marital advice.
- If the bride and groom placed disposable cameras on your table at the reception, assign a creative "photographer" at the table to
take interesting photographs. You may give the "used" camera to the bride and groom or better yet, develop the film for them.
They will truly appreciate it.
-
Do not just leave the wedding.
Before you do, make a point to personally thank the bride and groom and their parents and wish them the very best.
- While the bride and groom are honeymooning, The bride's gown needs attention.
Do not just clean it, preserve it for her so that it can be handed down to following generations.
If it is too expensive for you alone, pull resources with other guests and together send the bride's gown to be cleaned and preserved
by a preservation specialist.
If you are a family member, get together with other family members.
If you are in the wedding party, get together with the other attendants.
If you work together with the bride or groom, get together with other friends "from work".
The bride and groom will chrish your gift and think of you when the gown is handed down.
- If you are privvy to where the bride and groom are going on their honeymoon, do one or all of the following:
- send them a postcard to arrive at their honeymoon destination before they do.
- order a bottle of wine or champagne to be placed in their room.
- arrange for them to receive a "Newlyweds" gift basket with your complements.
- If you can find a way to, place a candle personalized with their names, wedding date, graphics of their honeymoom destination and your congratulations message in their luggage.
- If you have a way to get in,
decorate the newlyweds' home with welcome and congratulatory signs, streamers,
balloons and flowers to surprise them as they return from their honeymoon.
- Be unique! Send the bride and groom a Thank You note for having invited you to share in their happiness on the most important day of their life, their wedding day.
